SOME EXPERIENCES ON ANAEROBIC PROCESS FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT

conference papers

Great progress has been made in the last three years in Union Chemical Laboratories, ITRI. , concerning with the development of anaerobic techniques for industrial pollution control. In this paper, the experiences in the experiment and design of the modified upflow anaerobic sludge bed reactor (UASB) will be presented, and practical examples in the treatment of wastewater from brewery and citric acid fermentation industries will also be given.

After considerable bench/pilot-scale analysis of modified UASB operation has been conducted, 85M3 UASB reactor was established at San Fu Chemical Co., Ltd., San Hua, Taiwan. The start-up experience and the performance of this system will be discus-sed.

Ten more reactors with the capacity of 2000 M3 will be set up in 1986.
