Selective Recovery of Calcium and Magnesium Resources from Brine

Conference papers

In this paper, alkali and CO2 gas are introduced into seawater desalination brine to selective produce Mg(OH)2, Ca(OH)2, and CaCO3. The stepwise reaction conditions, including pH and temperature, and resultant analysis are systematically studied. The results show that the purity of produced Mg(OH)2, Ca(OH)2, and CaCO3 are 95.6%, 85.7%, and 99.0%, respectively, those could be a promising raw material for industry. This study provides a useful guideline for CO2 mineralization with seawater desalination brine, but also an efficient solution for CO2 reduce of flue gas.
